- What does "lthi"
stand for?
"lthi" stands for little things home
improvements. When I started my business in November 2001, I didn't think about the future when I would eventually begin
doing BIGGER projects. Now that I do BIGGER projects, the name still works because to me, it's the little things
that matter most. It is the little things that hold the BIG things together. A few little nails can hold up a BIG
roof. A little key makes an entire vehicle move, float or fly.
Don't sweat the small stuff. When it's
the little things that matter most, I'm at your service.
- What all do you do?
Everything but carpet. Just call and ask. (502) 533-8282. I started as a handyman and learned a little bit
about every aspect of residential structures, from electrical to plumbing, carpentry to drywall, from trimwork to cabinetry,
hardwood to tile, kitchen and bath remodeling to finished basements. I have some pretty strong relationships with other professionals
who do things I do not do, such as licensed plumbers and electricians. I have developed a high level of respect for specialized
professionals and have learned to appreciate the skills required to becoming a general contractor for larger projects. I think
I have made it obvious that I enjoy custom woodworking and cabinetry projects, but I also appreciate that I am a problem solver
and will look at most any project. If I cannot do something for whatever reason, I have developed some good relationships
through the years with other passionate professionals. - Can I have a copy of your plans?
Absolutely!
Just let me know which plans you want. We will arrange for payment and I will get them out to you.
- Are custom entertainment centers and built-ins more expensive than just buying from
a store?
Not necessarily. This is a somewhat tough question to answer, but I will give it my best based on my own opinion
and experience. Take a weekend trip to some of your local furniture stores and shop around. Look at quality, size, features,
price, and most importantly where it is made, etc. Determine what you wish to accomplish with your project or purchase, i.e.
the ability to take the piece with you when you move or adding value to your home, will the unit be too small or too large
for your project area. Watch out for dramatic price differences and reductions. I've been in well-established furniture stores
where the retail price shown on the tag at $6500 for example, but the price was slashed to $2995. WHAT? That seems a bit deceptive
to me. I can understand maybe a price slash to $5500, but more than half? What's wrong with it? Trying to get rid of something
you or your store doesn't stand behind anymore, perhaps? Use a little common sense and discernment. Get several estimates
for your custom project from several skilled craftsman. Compare apples to apples. Pay attention to how well the craftsman
knows what s/he is taking about and how comfortable you are feeling that s/he is going to take good care of you. Custom work
should show a fairly decent amount of attention to detail. I've seen some pretty crappy workmanship across the board, even
in high end homes. That's just wrong. Ask to see samples of their work or, although not always necessary, see if you can visit
a previous customer's home to view actual projects. Most importantly, your trust is what should determine who or where you
will invest your hard earned value.
- I hate my kitchen cabinets! Do I have any options besides totally replacing
them?
You do have options. It all depends on what your goals are. For
instance, if you want to upgrade your kitchen for that hefty 70-80% resale value and think that adding granite will up
the value, think again. I suggest an assessment to determine the quality of your existing cabinets. If you add granite over
poor quality cabinets, you will most likely not sell your home based on your kitchen and buyers may even request a reduction.
Real estate agents are good at noting such items. The last thing you want to do is make improvements without a professional
assessment. - Do
you do price matching or beat prices? Is that your best price?
Ask me this question in person.
- How "green" is your operation?
Green, sustainable, environmentally friendly, etc. are words that identify
an Earthly movement towards contributing to the greater good and preservation of the planet on which we live. But environmentally
minded and savvy goes well beyond any finished product. Additionally, it is more importantly about the operation than it is
the finished product although both process and product must be complimentary to each other. I strive to maintain an operation of sustainability as much
as possible using the most advanced techonolies and products containing eco-friendly measures and methods. Please see my page for detail about my operation. - About Us
